Ordinary iron tool rests are of fixed length and not adaptable. Big Tree
Tools, Inc. has a practical solution that utilizes machined stakes which
fit standard tool rest bases and insert into the bottom of the wood rail
which may be cut to any length required. When rubbed with a little wax
our maple rail is even smoother than metal, because the wax stays in
the wood. Long and short stakes are offered. Long stakes fit most 12" lathes.
Short stakes fit Delta and other in-line cam lock types. A suggested
profile for making a rail is included with complete instructions for
using the stakes.
